Brown and Golini Earn Player of the Week Honors
Oct. 1, 2012
EASTON, Pa. – Two Lafayette men’s soccer student-athletes, Josh Brown and Alec Golini have been honored with Patriot League Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week awards after playing integral roles in Lafayette’s two victories last week.
Brown played all 90 minutes both games as the lone senior on the Leopards’ back line and helped set up Golini’s game-winning goal against Delaware. A native of Branchburg, N.J., Brown helped Lafayette’s defensive corps hold Holy Cross to two total shots and Delaware to two on goal in a shutout win. His assist against the Blue Hens was his first of 2012 and sixth of his career.
Golini, a junior from Lumberton, N.J., leads the Patriot League in goals (5) and points (11) after scoring three times in two games against Delaware and Holy Cross. The midfielder netted both goals in a 2-0 triumph over the Blue Hens on Sept. 25 before scoring the deciding goal in Lafayette’s 2-1 Patriot League win against the Crusaders. A Government & Law major, Golini now has three tallies in two career matches against Delaware and earns the first Patriot League weekly award of his career.
Lafayette returns to the pitch on Tuesday when it travels to Lawrenceville, N.J. to play Rider. Kickoff from Ben Cohen Field is set for 4 p.m.
