Men's Soccer Opens Patriot League Play at Lehigh

EASTON, Pa. - Patriot League play opens this weekend for the Lafayette men's soccer team when the Leopards travel to Lehigh on Saturday night. The game, scheduled for 7 p.m., marks the league opener for both teams.
Lafayette (3-4-1) had the week off after dropping a 2-1 decision to Cornell on Sunday afternoon. Freshman forward Wayne Maminski scored the Leopards' lone goal in the loss en route to earning Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors.
Sophomore B.J. Glenn leads the team with three goals while Maminski is second with two. Goalie Andrew Pianko has started every minute of Lafayette's eight games this season and has recorded three shutouts.
Lehigh is 3-3-1 on the season and has dropped its last three decisions, including a 3-2 loss against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sept. 20. Seniors Jim Taranto and Adam Gazda lead the team with three goals apiece. The Mountain Hawks are second in the league in goals per game (1.86) and tied for first in assists (1.43 apg).
The all-time series between the teams stands at 52-43-9 in favor of Lehigh. The Leopards have won nine of the previous 13 games, including a 1-0 shutout of Lehigh at home last season.
Following Saturday's game, the Leopards will continue Patriot League play when they host American on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
