EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men’s soccer team opens its 2012 season Tuesday evening against Fairleigh Dickinson in the first of three consecutive road contests to start the year. The match is the fifth straight season opener away from home for the Maroon and White.

Head coach Dennis Bohn enters his 12th season on the Lafayette sidelines and has produced a winning record in each of his 11 seasons on College Hill. The streak is equaled by only 10 other Division I programs and the Leopards look to extend the run in 2012. The team features 18 returning letterwinners, including eight starters and six seniors.

Bohn’s squad boasted one of the nation’s best defensive units in 2011, finishing the season ranked fourth in goals-against average at 0.47 and eighth in shutout percentage after posting 10 clean sheets in 18 matches. The team also had three All-Patriot League selections, led by senior captain Sean Peckham, senior forward Kyle Scharfenberg and sophomore defender Julian Plummer.

Kickoff against FDU is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Teaneck, N.J. and can be followed via FDU’s live stats or online webcast.
