EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette men's soccer senior defender Julian Plummer was named to the Patriot League Preseason All-League squad, it was announced Thursday.

Plummer, a Second-Team All-League selection a year ago, started all 18 games for the Leopards' back line last season. The Kendall Park, N.J. native was the anchor of a unit that recorded eight shutouts last season and allowed just 14 goals in 18 games.

The Leopards were selected to finish seventh in the preseason poll, receiving 57 first-place votes. Navy topped the polls (161 votes), followed by Army (143), Bucknell (118), American (109), Holy Cross (100), Boston (85), Lafayette, Loyola (56), Colgate (51), and Lehigh (20).

The Maroon and White had the second-most ties in the nation in 2013 with eight draws. They will look to Plummer and company to swing some of those outcomes in their favor this season. Plummer's experience bodes well for the Leopards, as he has started all 57 games since his freshman campaign.

Lafayette opens up its 2014 season on Aug. 29, hosting Saint Peter's at Oaks Field at 7 p.m.
