SAN DIEGO, Calif. - A pair of Lafayette men's soccer student-athletes, Josh Brown and Nathan McDonald, helped Sonic FC Lehigh Valley of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) defeat Chattanooga FC 1-0 in the League's Championship match at Del Notre High School on July 29.

FC Sonic topped the Keystone Conference standings with a 10-1-1 record during the regular season while only surrendering three goals in 12 games. During the four-match playoff run, the team continued its stellar defensive play, giving up two goals and posting three shutouts on the way to the title.

Overall, the team posted 12 shutouts backed by Brown's play as an outside back and McDonald, who saw time in goal. According to US Soccer Report, FC Sonic finished the season ranked No. 1 out of all NPSL and Premier Development League (PDL) amateur teams in the country.

The duo will join the rest of the Lafayette men's soccer team on Aug. 11 when the team reports to College Hill for preseason camp.
