Kamine Named to Jewish Sports Review All-America Soccer Team
Feb. 2, 2009
EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette men's soccer player Justin Kamine (Oldwick, N.J./Voorhees) was named to the Jewish Sports Review All-America Soccer Team as an honorable mention. The sophomore defender was one of only three Patriot League men's soccer players named to the list. Last month, Kamine was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for the first time in his career after finishing the fall semester with a 3.22 grade-point average (GPA). Kamine, one of 11 Lafayette players to earn Honor Roll status, spent the interim session studying abroad in South Africa taking a course entitled Voices of South Africa. Kamine juggled a course schedule in the fall that included Intermediate Macroeconomics, Development of the Modern World, Introduction to Engineering and Public Policy and Topic: 2008 Elections. He was also involved in Lafayette's 2008 Election Night Broadcast where he helped produce various podcasts about the election. Teammate Steve Ference was also involved in the project as the public relations coordinator. Kamine, who made the permanent switch to defense in the fall, had a breakout sophomore season. The Policy Studies and Economics and Business double major started 16 of the 17 games in which he appeared and scored the first two goals of his collegiate career. Kamine was named the ECAC and Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after scoring Lafayette's second goal in an eventual 2-2 against archrival Lehigh on Sept. 27. Kamine's game-winning goal against Rider a week earlier marked the first score of his collegiate career. The Leopards finished the 2008 campaign with an 8-6-5 overall record and made their seventh consecutive Patriot League Tournament appearance.
