Men’s Soccer Adds Eight on National Signing Day

Lafayette men’s soccer head coach Dennis Bohn announced the addition of eight players to the program on National Signing Day. The newest group will arrive on College Hill this fall, with seven of them part of the Class of 2021 and one the Class of 2020 as a transfer.

This year’s class features three student-athletes from New Jersey and one each from Virginia, Texas, North Dakota, Pennsylvania and Hong Kong.

“I’m really excited about the versatility in this year’s class,” Bohn said. “We have guys from different positions and guys with different dynamics that they can bring to the program. Their variety of strengths will work well in adding on to what we have coming back.”

Pablo Moreno (Hong Kong / Hong Kong International School)

At Hong Kong International School: Four- year starter at striker…scored 15 goals and seven assists this season for the two-time International School champions…All-APAC Player in 2016…HKSSF 2016 Champions…played center/forward in basketball for one year…APAC 2017 Champions and an All-APAC Player…earned honor roll status all four years.

Personal: Son of Betsy and Jose De Jesus Moreno…has an older brother, David…born on Jan. 25, 1999.

Martin Ssessanga (Brick, N.J. / Curtis/Peddie School)

At Curtis High School/Peddie School: Three-year starter as a forward and in the midfield…scored 20 goals at Peddie School and 27 goals at Curtis…won two MAPL League championships…was named All-MAPL League and All-Prep A twice and was the NVC PSAL top scorer…earned All-America honors and played in the High School All-American Game…two-time MVP and two-time member of the honor roll at Curtis.



Personal: Has an older brother, Ssozi George and a younger brother, Mark Kakembo…born on Dec. 2, 1998.

Seth Rawlins (Fairfax Station, Va. / South County)

At South County: Two-year starter at forward and in the midfield…played for the top-ranked club team in Virginia, FC Virginia and SYC Striker Blue…ranked as high as one in the state and six nationally…earned the Varsity Academic Achievement Award…was an AP Scholar and member of the National Honor Society, earning honor roll status all four years…recipient of the Outstanding Junior Delegate award at the West Point Leadership & Ethics conference…also participated in the Peer Leaders, the South County Leadership Program the South County Stallions for Servicemen, the South County Hype Squad, Youth Group, the Stop the Hate Club, DECA, the Ecology Club and volunteered over 100 hours in community service.

Personal: Son of Alisa and Robert Rawlins…has an older brother, Brent, and an older sister, Morgan…father was a tennis player at George Mason and mother was cheerleader at James Madison…born on Sept. 18, 1998.

Alistair Person (Grand Prairie, Texas / Bowie)

At Bowie High School: Was a four-year starter at center forward…named First-Team All-District his sophomore and junior seasons and was the team’s offensive MVP…two-time captain his junior and senior seasons…played for Solar Chelsea Red 98, the USYSA National League champions…his club was also a Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup XXXVII finalist, a 2016 State Cup finalist and a 2016 Region III semi-finalist…three year member of the A-honor roll and the National Honor Society, finishing in the top five percent of his class…was a volunteer leader with Gleaning Fields food distribution.

Personal: Son of Melissa and James Person…has an older brother, Turner, and an older sister, Katherine…born on Dec. 14, 1998.

Andrew Venezia (Lincroft, N.J. / Christian Brothers Academy)

At Christian Brothers Academy: Played four years of soccer at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy for Cedar Stars Academy, primarily at left and center back…named a three-star prospect and a Class of 2017 regionally ranked player as the no. 8 defender in the region by Top Drawer Soccer…seven-time selection to the U.S. Soccer Training Center program…was a US Club Soccer id2 Program selection…served as a team captain and played against the top youth academies in England and Spain, including Manchester United, West Ham United, Leicester City and Cornella FC…member of the honor roll and a volunteer at the Tigger House Foundation and the Red Bank, N.J. Food Bank.

Personal: Son of Linda and Carmine Venezia…has an older brother, Matthew, and two younger sisters, Katie and Emily…father played baseball at Lehigh…born on Feb. 25, 1999.

Kyle Robbins (Fargo, N.D. / Shattuck- St. Mary’s/Whitewater)

At Shattuck- St. Mary’s/Whitewater High School: Played three years at Whitewater and one year at Shattuck-St. Mary’s…scored 31 goals and tallied 22 assists throughout his career…was the top goal scorer on his team in 2014 and 2015 and the Whitewater Offensive Player of the Year both of those years…earned First-Team All-Region 4A following his sophomore season…selected for the ODP Interregional Top 11 team in 2015 and was the team captain of the Region III Team…invited to the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in 2015…team captain of the ODP national champions with the GA 99’s…three-time high honor roll selection and a 2016 Junior Marshal, as well as a Georgia Merit Scholar Recipient…participated as a member of the Beta Club, as a Student Council Leader and as part of the Academic and Science Olympiad teams…member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Son of Jocelyn and James Robbins…has a younger brother, Damien…father played soccer at Lafayette as a member of the Class of 1992…born on Jan. 14, 1992.

Chris Gomez (Jamison, Pa. / Central Bucks East/Syracuse)

At Syracuse/CB East: Transferred from Syracuse after redshirting his freshman season…will be classified as a sophomore in terms of eligibility…played left back at Central Bucks East, starting every game as a freshman…played just one season at CB East due to USDA regulations…was ranked 18th in the Class of 2015 by College Soccer News and 42nd by Top Drawer Soccer… attended eight U.S. Youth National Team Camps from the U14-U18 levels and traveled on three international trips with the U14-U15 U.S. Youth National Teams…was the captain of the Philadelphia Union U16 Academy…member of the honor roll at CB East and the ACC Academic Honor Roll during his year at Syracuse.

Personal: Son of Cristina and Wilson Gomez…has a younger brother, Gabe…bron on Jan. 5, 1997.

Brendan Mulligan (Princeton Jct., N.J. / Peddie School)

At Peddie School: Three-year starter in the midfield…won two MAPL championships and was a Prep A state finalist…three-time letter-winner and an all-conference honoree…played club soccer for Match Fit Academy, winning two N.J. state championships and a Disney Cup championship in 2015…was also a finalist for the Disney Cup in 2016 and a two-time semifinalist in Region 1…participated in ESL Service.

Personal: Son of Bryn and Timothy Mulligan…has two older brothers, Declan and Colin…father played lacrosse at Cornell and mother ran cross country at Smith College…born on July 16, 1999.
