STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Lafayette men's soccer had its three-game win streak ended on Friday night in the opening round of the Holiday Inn Express Invitational at Stony Brook. The Leopards (3-2), who were shut out for just the second time this season, lost to hosts, 3-0 at LaValle Stadium.

The game was scoreless for the majority of the first half, before Stony Brook broke though with 4:14 left before intermission. Eight yards out from the goal Chris Scarpati took a cross from Chris Megaloudis and booted home a shot past Lafayette goalkeeper Mike Tortora who had been drawn out to play the ball.

Stony Brook (4-1-1) padded its lead in the second half, scoring at 57:20 when Mark Zajkowski headed in a corner kick from the serve of Michael Palacio. The Seawolves closed out the game with a third and final goal 18 minutes later (75:33). Adam Cicklic scored off assists from Palacio and Douglas Narvaez.

For the game, the Leopards were outshot 13-7 with Stony Brook holding a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Tortora made three saves in goal in 90 minutes. E.J. Xikis played 86 minutes and registered three saves in the net for Stony Brook.

Lafayette will return to action on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the final round of the Holiday Inn Express Invitational. The Leopards will battle Fairfield (2-1-2) which notched a 1-0 win over Columbia (2-4) in the first game of the tournament.
