Brandon Kates begins his second season with the Lafayette men's soccer team. A Cherry Hill, N.J. native, he spent the last four seasons at the Division III level, coaching for two years under former Lafayette assistant Nate Gibboney at Lycoming College in 2013 and 2014. Lycoming made the MAC Commonwealth championship game each of his two seasons, capturing the program’s first title in school history in 2013.

In 2015, Kates returned to Susquehanna, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2013. He was the program’s top assistant, helping his team to back-to-back Landmark Conference semifinal appearances.

Prior to his coaching career, Kates was a three-year starter at center back for Susquehanna, starting in 58 consecutive games. He was a two-time First-Team All-Landmark Conference performer, as well as a NSCAA First-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region honoree and a Third-Team All-American in 2012. Additionally, he was selected to the Landmark Conference All-Decade Team as a defender this past fall.
