Oct. 3, 2017

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette men’s lacrosse interim head coach Ed Williams announced the additions of Scott Bieda and Tim Desko as assistant coaches to complete the 2017-18 coaching staff on Monday afternoon.

Bieda served as the program’s volunteer assistant coach this past season and moves into a full-time assistant role for the 2017-18 academic year. A standout at Rutgers during his collegiate playing career from 2012-16, Bieda is currently playing professionally on attack for the Boston Cannons.

During his rookie campaign, Bieda is currently leading the team with 15 assists and is tied for fourth on the team in points. The two-time captain and Academic All-American at Rutgers, he was drafted 14th overall in the Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft in 2016.

Desko joins the Maroon and White after spending two seasons as an assistant at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. The Dolphins won a Division II national championship during his tenure in 2016, sporting an undefeated 20-0 record that season.

The Syracuse native played his collegiate lacrosse at Syracuse, starting for four years and winning national championships in 2008 and 2009. Additionally, he was a team captain in 2012, his final year with the Orange.

Following his collegiate career, Desko took a head coaching job at McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, Ga., selected as the All-South Metro Coach of the Year in his only season there. Following that stint, he was named the Offensive Coordinator at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. and remained there until his move to Le Moyne in 2015.

Bieda and Desko, along with Williams, complete the men’s lacrosse coaching staff for the 2018 season. Former head coach Jim Rogalski left the program to become an assistant coach at Michigan in August, and a permanent search for his replacement will occur following the 2018 campaign.
