Men's Lacrosse To Compete In Yale Fall Classic
Oct. 3, 2006
EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette head coach Terry Mangan will get an early look at what the 2007 spring season has in store for his Leopards, as the team is scheduled to compete against top-flight competition at the Yale Fall Classic on Oct. 15.
"We are very excited to test ourselves against two high quality programs," Mangan said. "We hope to have everyone healthy and ready to go on the 15th. The guys have been doing great and working really hard in preparation."
This will be Lafayette's fourth consecutive appearance in the Yale Fall Classic.
The Leopards open the tournament with a tough test against 2006 NCAA Finalist and national runner-up UMass at 1 p.m. at Yale's Johnson Field, which is adjacent to the Yale Bowl. Mangan is no stranger to the UMass program, as he spent the two years prior to his stint at Lafayette with the Minutemen assisting with the offense, working with the goaltenders and coordinating face-offs.
Lafayette is then scheduled to take on host Yale at 3 p.m. Stony Brook and fellow Patriot League member Army round out the five-team field.
"It's a great opportunity to see how much our veterans have improved since last spring and see our freshmen class in a Lafayette uniform for the first time," Mangan said.
The Leopards return 23 letterwinners and seven starters from the 2006 roster and are looking forward to integrating 13 freshmen into the lineup.
