Galassi's Effort Rewarded with Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette freshman John Galassi (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) was named Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for his seven-goal outing in the Leopards' 14-5 win over Wagner on Saturday, March 11.
Galassi scored three times in a span of 3:22 early in the fourth quarter as the Leopards put together a seven-goal burst in just under six minutes of action to turn a 4-4 tie into a commanding 11-4 lead. He also had six ground balls to help Lafayette build a 47-22 advantage in that department.
The freshman had a hat trick in the first half, opening the scoring 6:37 into the match and netting a pair of goals in the second quarter to rally the Leopards from a 2-1 deficit. Galassi completed his day with an interception deep in the Seahawks' zone which he deposited into an empty net with 4:34 left in the fourth quarter.
Galassi also scored against Villanova on Tuesday and also found the net at Quinnipiac in Lafayette's second match of the season.
The Leopards (1-3) open their Patriot League schedule on Wednesday at noon at No. 4 Navy. Lafayette received one vote in the InsideLacrosse.com media poll on Monday following its win over Wagner.
