No. 6 Army Downs Lafayette Men's Lax, 14-2
March 22, 2005 WEST POINT, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's men's lacrosse team continued to battle its way through one of the toughest season-opening scheduling stretches in the country, dropping a 14-2 decision at No. 6 Army on Tuesday night. The young Leopards were playing their third top-20 opponent in 10 days. Lafayette's first two Patriot League opponents, Navy on March 15 and Army on Tuesday, were ranked in the top six. The Black Knights (4-1 overall, 2-0 Patriot League), on the strength of four first-half goals by Jim Wagner, led 10-0 at halftime. The margin was 11-0 in the third quarter when sophomore Bart Seifert netted an unassisted goal to put the Leopards (0-6, 0-2) on the board. Sophomore Sean Burek's fourth goal of the year wrapped up the scoring early in the fourth quarter. Wagner added an assist to his four goals for a game-high five points. Justin Bokmeyer added three goals for Army. Sophomore Chris Rosa made 14 saves in the cage for the Leopards, who were out-shot 46-31 for the contest. Lafayette returns to action on Saturday, hosting Bucknell at 1 p.m.
