Mactas Wins Colgate Invitational

Lafayette freshman Jared Mactas finished first at the Colgate Invitational, his first collegiate competition. Mactas finished the tournament at one-under par 215 (74-70-71) in the three-round event, winning by two strokes and leading Lafayette to a tie for sixth place in the 14-team field.
Mactas was tied for second at even par heading into today's final round and fired a one-under 71 on the 6,950-yard, par-72, Robert Trent Jones-designed Seven Oaks Country Club.
Binghamton won the team title, followed by Youngstown State, Lehigh, Army and Bucknell. Lafayette and St. Bonaventure tied for sixth place.
Lafayette sophomore Chad Bell finished 26th with a 229 (82-70-77), while junior Robert Dyer ended up tied for 44th with a 236 (78-79-79) and sophomore Patrick Luther (80-82-80) and junior Kirk Massie (76-84-82) tied for 62nd.
Lafayette will compete in the Bucknell Invitational Sept. 14-15 at the Bucknell Golf Club.
