Hutnik Signs Four Student-Athletes to 2012 Golf Recruiting Class

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette head golf coach Jim Hutnik has inked his seventh year of incoming freshmen for the upcoming 2008-09 season. The group of four will arrive to College Hill from New York and Pennsylvania.

Five-time varsity letterwinner in golf Chip Culp (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) will join the Leopards' golf team for the 2008 season. While at Chestnut Hill Academy, he was a tri-athlete playing golf, soccer and squash, receiving first team all-league honors in all three sports. He also participated in student government and was an honor roll student.

All-state and all-county team member Michael Curcro (Brockville, N.Y./ North Shore High School) was a four year member of the varsity team at North Shore High School. He served as team captain his senior season. Curcro placed second in the county Tournament and 25th in the New York Tournament. He was a High Honor Roll student and a recipient of the President's Award. Curcro was also a volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Son of James and Elizabeth Rufe, alumnae of Lafayette, Carter Rufe (Rhinebuck, N.Y./The Hill School) will make his way to College Hill as a member of the class of 2012. He was a four year and three time letterwinner at The Hill School, participating in soccer, squash, and golf. Rufe served as captain of the golf team and earned All-MAPL honors. Rufe received High Academic Honors at The Hill School.

Nicholas Zawarski (Easton, Pa./Moravian Academy) will be making his way to College Hill as a member of the Leopards' golf team. He played golf all four years at Moravian Academy in the Colonial League. Zawarski recently competed at and won the Northampton Country Club men's club championship.



Lafayette starts the fall season at Lewisburg, Pa. in the Bucknell Fall Invitational on Sept. 11-13.
