Lafayette Concludes 2012 Fall Season With 6th Place Finish at Lehigh Invitational

Lafayette's golf team concluded its 2012 fall schedule by taking sole possession of sixth place in the second and final round of the Lehigh Invitational. A pair of Leopard freshmen -- Chad Bell and Ben DeForest -- led the way with top-20 finishes on the 6,835-yard, par-72 Grace Course at Saucon Valley County Club, site of the 2013 Patriot League Championship.
Bell recorded a 73, the third-best round in the field of 45 competitors during Sunday's final round, to finish in a tie for 11th place at 77-73--150. DeForest matches his opening round 77 to finish in a tie for 19th place at 77-77-154.
Villanova captured the team title, leading wire-to-wire and recording a two-round score of 580. Rutgers finished second at 596 while Fordham was third at 600, Lehigh fourth at 603, Bucknell fifth at 617, Lafayette sixth at 622, Siena seventh at 627 and Colgate eighth at 632.
Villanova also had the top two individuals -- Michael Kania finishing first at one-under 68-75--143 and Steve Skurla just one stroke behind at 70-74--144.
Lafayette senior captain David Kafafian finished in a tie for 26th place at 78-80--158.
Mike Zausmer ended up tied for 30th place at 78-82--160, Patrick Luther (80-81--161) and Phil Rosengarden (80-81--161) both finished tied for 32nd place and Josh Feinberg wound up tied for 36th at 80-82--162.
