The Lafayette golf team is tied for sixth place after the opening round of the Lehigh Invitational, led by a pair of freshmen -- Chad Bell and Ben DeForest -- who each carded a 77 on the 6,835-yard, par-72 Grace Course at Saucon Valley County Club.

Final round action begins Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Villanova leads the team scoring with a 284, while Fordham sits in second at 295, Rutgers third at an even 300, Lehigh fourth at 302, Bucknell fifth at 308, both Lafayette and Siena sixth at 310 and Colgate eighth at 315.

Individually, Bell and DeForest sit in a six-way tie for 16th place, nine shots back of day-one leader Michael Kania of Villanova who fired a four-under 68.

Senior captain David Kafafian and sophomore Mike Zausmer both shot 78 to round out Lafayette's four team scores.

This is the final event of the fall season for the Leopards and a great opportunity to preview the site of the 2013 Patriot League Championship.
