Top-10 Finish for the Leopards
Sept. 15, 2012 PISCATAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The Lafayette golf team recorded its best round of the 2012 Rutgers Invitational in the final round Saturday, shooting a 301 team total to jump from 12th to 10th place. USC Upstate defended its title, edging out host Rutgers by three strokes at the par-71, 6,337-yard Rutgers University Golf Course. Lafayette freshman Chad Bell continued his stellar play with a one-over 72 to finish in a tie for 16th. It was Bell's best round of the tournament, recording 75-76-72--223. The Leopards had two other final round scores in the 70s -- sophomore Phil Rosengarden with a 74 and senior Dave Kafafian with a 75. Rosengarden tied for 44th place (80-77-74--231) while Kafafian tied for 54th (76-83-75--234). Sophomore Doug Fernandez rounded out the Leopards' top four scores with a 78-79-80--237 to tie for 65th place. Lafayette next competes in the Cornell Fall Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y. Sept. 22-23.
