Griffin's Second-Place Finish Helps Leopards Leapfrog Lehigh for 5th at PL Championship

Lafayette's golf team was the only one at the 2016 Patriot League Championship to move up the leaderboard, firing a final-round 300 to move ahead of rival Lehigh and finish fifth at the 6,528-yard, par-71 Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
Lafayette sophomore Art Griffin finished at 2-under and in a tie for 2nd place individually, leading the Leopards. Griffin carded rounds of 71, 71 and 69 and earns first-team All-Patriot League honors.
Army won the team title by 22 strokes, finishing with a three-round total of 850. Host Navy took second at 872, while Loyola was third at 876, Bucknell fourth at 895, Lafayette fifth at 897, Lehigh sixth at 907, Colgate seventh at 916 and Holy Cross eigth at 934.
Army's Dean Sakata took top individual honors with an 11-under total of 202, earning the top spot by nine strokes over Griffin and Bucknell's JP Raftery.
In addition to Griffin, Lafayette's Chad Bell tied for 14th (78-73-73--224), James Frahm finished 24th (77-73-80-230), Travis Ricca tied for 35th (81-78-73--237), John Warden finished 44th (79-84-80--243) and Patrick McGinley finished 46th (76-86-86--248).
