Second Round 290 Propels Lafayette to 4th Place at Finegan Invitational

Lafayette's golf team shot a tournament-best 290 in today's second round to move up the leaderboard five spots and finish fourth in the 2016 Finegan Invitational hosted by La Salle at Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pa.
Lafayette sophomore Art Griffin finished at 2-over and in a tie for 4th place individually, leading the Leopards. Griffin fired back-to-back rounds of 72 on the 6,707-yard, par-71 course.
Navy won the team title on the second hole of a playoff with Drexel. Both teams finished at 593, just two strokes ahead of Lafayette. Villanova rounded out the top five at 598. Other Patriot League members competing in the event included Bucknell (12th - 639) and Lehigh (3rd - 594).
Drexel's Christopher Crawford took top individual honors with a 4-under total of 138, earning the top spot by four strokes.
In addition to Griffin, Lafayette's Chad Bell tied for 17th (78-73--151), while James Frahm tied for 23rd (77-75--152), Patrick McGinley tied for 31st (78-76--154) and John Warden tied for 45th (87-70--157).
Lafayette next competes in the Naval Academy Spring Invitational April 22-24 at the Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md., site of the 2016 Patriot League Championships one week later.
