Lafayette Takes Sixth at Yale Spring Invitational

The Lafayette golf team earned a sixth place finish at the Yale Spring Invitational on Saturday, played at The Course at Yale. The Leopards shot a 309 in the first round and a 316 second round for a 36-hole total of 625.
Tennessee put together a two-round score of 574 and also had Rick Lamb take the medalist honors after carding a 139 (71, 68). The other Patriot League representative in the 12 team tournament was Colgate, which placed ninth and fired a 631.
Lafayette's top finisher was senior Rob Robertson. He recorded the low-round of the event amongst his teammates after completing the opening 18 in 71 shots, one-over par. Robertson coupled his first round score with an 84 on the second eighteen and tied for 21st with a 155.
David Kafafian, who shot a 79 and 78, respectively, was tied for 25th at plus-17. One shot separated Kafafian and Carter Rufe (81, 77) who ranked in a tie for 29th overall.
Rounding out the scoring for Lafayette was Phil Rosengarden (t-37) and Mike Zausmer (42nd). Rosengaden's low-round was a 78 on the first 18 holes and he followed up with an 82 for a 160 on the day. Zausmer carded an 83 and a 79, in that order, to wrap up the Lafayette contributing scores.
Lafayette returns to the course next weekend when it hosts the Lafayette Spring Invitational at Northampton Country Club.
