Leopards Tied for 12th in Lafayette Invitational

The Lafayette golf team stands in a tie for 12th place after the opening round of the 2014 Lafayette Invitational led by freshman Garrett Sweeney who recorded a five-over 76 on the 6,655-yard, par-71 Championship Course at Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown, Pa.
Final round action is set for Monday with split-tee starting times running from 9 until 11:30 a.m.
Longwood leads the team scoring with a 16-over 300, while Hofstra trails by just three strokes, Rider four strokes, and Canisius and Central Connecticut round out the top five just six strokes out of the lead.
Individually, Sweeney sits in a tie for 19th place, four shots back of day-one leader David Mecca of Hostra who fired a one-over 72.
