Lafayette Golf Starts Spring at George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette opened its spring golf season with the George Washington Invitational, a rain-shortened 18-hole event, at Swan Point Yacht and Country Club in Issue, Md.
Jeremiah O'Neill and Brandon Mitchel both recorded rounds of 81 on the par-72 course to lead the Leopards contingent. O'Neill closed with a 39 on the back nine, while Mitchell shot a 39-42. Garett Copp (89), Billy Simmermacher (91) and Tom Palmer (93) also competed for Lafayette.
Villanova claimed the team title, and Jonathan Eewett won a four-way playoff with a 73. Lafayette was 25th of 26 squads.
The Leopards will host the Lafayette Invitational at Center Valley Country Club in Center Valley, Pa. on April 8-9.
