UConn captured the team title in the 2017 Coca-Cola Lafayette Invitational hosted by Lafayette at Silver Creek Country Club. The Huskies won by a 14-stroke margin with a six-over, two-round total of 582 on the 6,655-yard, par-72 course.
Wagner's Anton Frondelius won the individual title in a two-hole playoff with Villanova's Lucas Trim and UConn's Eric Dietrich. Frondelius parred both holes, the par-4, 400-yard first and par-4, 305-yard second, while Dietrich bogeyed the first and Trim parred the first and bogeyed the second. The trio tied in regulation at one-under 143.
Host Lafayette saw its Maroon squad tie for 14th at 47-over 623 and its White squad finish 17th at 71-over 647.
The Leopards' Maroon squad featured Chad Bell (T22; 75-77--152), James Frahm (T32; 79-75--154), Reid Bedell (T42; 79-76--155), Patrick McGinley (T81; 82-80--162) and Will Halamandaris (T87; 84-80--164). The White squad included Jake Basilico (T66; 79-80--159), Trey Croney (T66; 81-78--159), Jack Reilly (T94; 81-85--166), Ben Perrine (T96; 87-80--167) and Aiden McDermott (T98; 85-83--168).
Representing Lafayette as an individuals in the tournament was Drew Petri (T49; 79-77--156)
Lafayette next travels to the Finnegan Spring Invitational on Monday, April 10 at Deal Country Club in Deal, N.J.
