Leopards Finish 15th at FAU Invite

The Lafayette golf team finished 15th at the the Florida Atlantic University Spring Break Championship, led by sophomore Travis Ricca and freshman Garrett Sweeney who both tied for 73rd on the 6,876-yard, par-71 North Course at The Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth, Fla.
The Leopards host the Lafayette Invitational at Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown, Pa.
Sixth-ranked Central Florida took the team title with a 13-under team total of 839. Georgia Southern finished second at seven-under 845 while Middle Tennessee State was third at two-over 854, DePaul was fourth at 11-over 863 and Jacksonville State was fifth at 19-over 871. Lafayette finished with a team total of 965.
Individually, UCF had the two top finishers as Ricardo Gouveia finished 10-under 203 and teammate Greg Eason ended up eight-under at 205.
Ricca and Sweeney both finished at 239 as Sweeney carded a 77 for his best round of the tournament.
Junior Mike Zausmer finished 76th after shooting 80 for the third straight day while freshman Jared Mactas finished 79th place at 249 and junior Doug Fernandez ended up tied for 80th at 257. Leopard junior Bob Dyer competed as an individual at this event and finished tied for 66th at 234.
