Lafayette Finishes 17th at Villanova's Wildcat Invitational

Lafayette sophomore Art Griffin finished at 9-over and in a tie for 25th place, leading Lafayette to a 17th-place finish at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Villanova at prestigious White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa.. Griffin recorded rounds of 75 and 76 on the 7,055-yard, par-71 course.
Cleveland State won the team title with a six-stroke margin over Lehigh. Wagner finished third while host Villanova, Binghamton and La Salle tied for fourth place.
Binghamton's Kyle Wambold took top individual honors with a one-over total of 143, edging Villanova's Andrew MacMillan by two strokes.
In addition to Griffin, Lafayette's John Warden tied for 62nd (79-76--155), while Patrick Luther (77-80--157) and Chad Bell (76-81--157) tied for 76th and Patrick McGinley tied for 98th (79-84--163) rounded out the Leopards' team scores.
Lafayette now turns its attention to hosting the 2016 Coca-Cola Bottlling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational April 3-4 at Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown, Pa.
