It's game week and the entire focus is on Sacred Heart, the Leopards' 2013 season opener this Saturday at 6 p.m. in Fisher Stadium. GoLeopards.com has another position preview today, sitting down with junior tailback Ross Scheuerman to preview the running backs.
Also, Lafayette beat writer Paul Reinhard offers a preseason package in today's edition. "Read all about it" through the GoLeopards.com News Stand link below.
After a brief hiatus to start the first week of Fall semester classes, Preseason Central is back. Highlights today include a positional preview of the offensive line and a feature on senior FB turned TB Greg Kessel. Check both out below.
It's the final day of preseason workouts for the Leopards and it's another early morning with breakfast in Farinon at 6:45 a.m. Special teams practice begins at 8:20 a.m. followed by the full-team practice from 9-11 a.m. Classes begin tomorrow.
It's a relatively light day in the print media. The preseason tab hit today's print edition of The Express-Times but Preseason Central linked to that on Friday. Leopard beat writer Paul Reinhard of The Morning Call wrote a great blog about Lafayette's victory over Army in 1940. With the announcement this week that Lafayette and Army will resume their series in 2016 and 2018, a blog on the Leopards' lone victory over Army is certainly fitting.
Rise and shine, Leopard fans! Two stories -- a season preview and a feature on LB Kasheem Hill -- appear in today's edition of The Express-Times by Lafayette beat writer Brad Wilson.
It's an early morning for the Leopards too with breakfast at 6:45 a.m. in advance of practice from 9-11 a.m.
8/22/2013 (The Express-Times/ by Brad Wilson) Football 2013: Lafayette College preview
It was a full day Wednesday as the Leopards' annual media day and an 80-play scrimmage in the afternoon heat both took center stage. GoLeopards.com was on hand and sat down with the LSN broadcast team (scroll down for that). Media days generally generate tons of coverage. Lafayette's beat writers didn't disappoint. Enjoy five stories linked below from Brad Wilson of The Express-Times and Paul Reinhard of The Morning Call.
8/21/2013 (The Express-Times/ by Brad Wilson) Lafayette College's full-pads scrimmage shows team's talent developing on schedule
It was all business on Wednesday as the seniors and a few underclassmen made the short walk to Pfenning Alumni Center for the Leopards' annual media day. There will be plenty of coverage to come from the event. In the meantime, check out a photo gallery from today's media day and intrasquad scrimmage where the offensive line didn't manhandle the inexperienced defensive line as many expected.
Hello, Leopard fans! The guys were back to two-a-days this morning. Little twist in the schedule as Coach Tavani will have a light practice this evening in preparation of tomorrow's approximately 90-play scrimmage. We're getting ready for tomorrow's Lafayette Football Media Day and will have full, same day coverage of all the happenings from Pfenning Alumni Center and the afternoon scrimmage inside Fisher Stadium.
We start out today's coverage with a positional preview as Matt Panto of GoLeopards.com sits down with senior LB Mike Boles. Also featured this morning is a feature by Lafayette football beat writer Brad Wilson of The Express-Times on senior captain Pat Crosby, one of the Leopards' three team captains.
Good morning, Leopard fans! Nothing like waking up to another downpour and flood watch in the Easton area. Here's hoping the rain halts in time for today's 1:30 p.m. practice.
Hot off the press this morning is a feature by Lafayette football beat writer Brad Wilson of The Express-Times on senior defensive back Randall Logan, recently named one of the Leopards' team captains.
Also, a leftover from yesterday (in case you don't follow @GoLeopards on Twitter) -- head coach Frank Tavani recaps day 4 of 2013 preseason camp.
GoLeopards.com gives you all-access into day four of the 2013 Lafayette football preseason camp.
It was the second straight day of helmets-only practice with the full squad today as the Leopards prepare to transition to uppers for tomorrow's practice. The weather was close to perfect as College Hill saw clear skies, temperatures in the mid-80s and low humidity.
The first full-squad practice took center stage today and it was helmets only. The prospects of going outside today looked iffy at best as flash flood warnings were in place in Easton throughout the day. It turned out to be an odd weather day with the clouds turning to sun then back to clouds and rain but the Leopards got their practice in.
Lafayette football beat reporters Paul Reinhard of The Morning Call and Dave Lesko of WFMZ-69 covered today's practice. Links below ...
8/9/2013 (WFMZ-69) Lafayette kicks off 2013 training camp
The freshmen, Lafayette's first class of scholarship football student-athletes, got acclimated to Fisher Stadium and Bourger Varsity Football Housewith a freshmen-only practice in the afternoon. Mother Nature interrupted the practice for a bit but the Leopard coaching staff had a chance to see what the new Leopards can do.
The big news out of camp today was the naming of seniors Brad Bormann, Pat Crosby and Randall Logan as team captains. The captains were selected by Frank Tavani, the Fred M. Kirby II '42 Head Football Coach, in consultation with his coaching staff. In addition to the team's three captains, Tavani has instituted a leadership council for which two members of each of the freshman, sophomore and junior classes will be elected by their classmates to represent their class in weekly meetings with the captains and Tavani.
Lafayette Football head coach Frank Tavani invites GoLeopards.com over to Bourger Varsity Football House prior to preseason camp to let us know what to look for going into Preseason Central. This year, GoLeopards.com gives you that access less than 24 hours from preseason camp.
