EASTON, Pa. - Two Lafayette football players, sophomore Mark Ross and senior Brandon Ellis have been selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, announced by the League on Tuesday. The recognition comes in addition to being two of 10 Lafayette players to earn All-League acknowledgment.

Ross, a wideout from Aliquippa, Pa. holds a 3.59 cumulative grade-point average in Economics and registered a 3.68 mark in the spring semester. A 2011 All-Patriot League Second-Team honoree, Ross led the Leopards in receiving with 49 catches for 703 yards and nine touchdowns. His 14.3 yards per catch average ranked fourth in the League and had 11 plays of more than 20 yards to his credit.

Representing Lafayette from the defensive side of the ball is Ellis, an Economics & Business major with a 3.49 GPA. A Jeffersonville, Pa. native, Ellis posted a 4.0 GPA last semester and was recently was named to the Capital One Academic All-District II Team for the second time in his career.  He serves as a peer mentor in the College's Academic Tutoring and Training Information Center and as a Gateway Ambassador for Career Services. On the field, Ellis garnered First-Team All-Patriot League laurels as he led Lafayette with 11 pass breakups from his cornerback position. Ellis was fourth on the team with 70 tackles while starting every game.

To be eligible for the Scholar Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
