Go Leopards! Lafayette is ranked 21st in The Sports Network poll and 22nd in the FCS Coaches Poll.
Lafayette is ranked 21st in The Sports Network poll and 22nd in the FCS Coaches Poll.

Nov. 16, 2009

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette football remains in the Top 25 in both polls, following a heart-breaking, perhaps even controversial, 28-26 loss at No. 14/13 Holy Cross on Saturday. The Leopards move down one spot to No. 21 in The Sports Network poll and drop two places to No. 22 in the FCS Poll. Lafayette trails Colgate in the FCS poll, despite beating the Raiders two weeks ago.

Lafayette is 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the Patriot League. Both of the Leopards' losses have come to Top 25 teams, as the other defeat occurred on Sept. 19 versus then No. 24 and current No. 17/16 Liberty (19-13).

The Leopards will have one more chance to prove to the FCS selection committee that they belong in the playoff field. As if that weren't enough incentive, LAFAYETTE will play lehigh in the 145th meeting of College Football's Most-Played Rivalry on Saturday at Goodman Stadium.

Kick-off is set for 12:30 p.m. and the game can be seen on the Lafayette Sports Network (LIVE on RCN 4 & 8, WBPH-60, ESPN Game Plan and ESPN360.com; Tape Delay on MASN). Lafayette will be looking to make it five out of the last six against the Mountain Hawks who made it a rivalry again in 2008 by beating the Leopards 31-15. Lehigh could work its way into a second-place tie with Colgate and Lafayette in the conference standings.
