Curley Lauded By ECAC
Nov. 5, 2009
EASTON, Pa. - Senior quarterback Rob Curley has added ECAC Player of the Week honors to his Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week plaudits that were announced on Monday. He is the fifth recipient from the League in the eight weeks the honor has been presented. Curley led Lafayette to a 35-14 win over Bucknell by playing a nearly perfect game on Saturday, completing 30-of-35 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions or sacks. The completions, attempts and yardage marks were all career highs. Curley threw all three of his touchdown passes in the second half as Lafayette scored on its first four possessions to break open a game that was tied at 7-7 at the break. Curley's quarterback rating was 242.9 for the game. The performance came one week after he set a career high with 305 passing yards against Fordham. He has led Lafayette to its best overall start since 1981 with a 7-1 record, and six consecutive victories in a single season for the first time since 1992. Lafayette is 3-0 in the Patriot League for the first time since 2005. Curley ranks in the top 20 nationally in passing yards, total offense and completions per game, while leading the Patriot League and placing seventh in the country with a 155.4 pass efficiency rating. Curley shared the ECAC honor with Harvard junior running back Gino Gordon. Harvard was one of four Ivy League squads that Lafayette beat in the non-conference portion of its 2009 schedule. Curley claimed the award in the final week that ECAC honors will be handed out this season. He becomes the fourth different Patriot Leaguer to receive the Offensive Player of the Week award from the organization, joining Colgate's Greg Sullivan and Jordan McCord as well as two-time recipient Fordham's John Skelton. Fordham's Isa Abdul El-Quddus also won a Defensive Player of the Week award on Oct. 19. No. 24 Lafayette hosts No. 18 Colgate on Saturday at Fisher Stadium. Kick off on Senior Day is set for 1 p.m.
