Oct. 22, 2012

EASTON, Pa. - Junior linebacker Mike Boles has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in the 30-13 win over Holy Cross on Oct. 20.

The junior linebacker had eight tackles in the game in which the Lafayette defense held Holy Cross scoreless in the first half. Boles added an interception in the second half, and returned it to the two-yard line. The pick set up Lafayette's final touchdown with two minutes left in the game.

Boles leads the team with 53 tackles from his middle linebacker spot. It is his first time being named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.

Wide receiver Mark Ross earned honorable mention for his role in Lafayette's win over Holy Cross. Ross had 12 receptions for 168 yards and a touchdown. It was his fourth straight 100-yard receiving game and moved him into the top 20 nationally in both receptions and receiving yards per game.

Lafayette next faces Georgetown 6 p.m. on Saturday for Family Weekend at Fisher Stadium.
