Bryant Repeats as Defensive Player of the Week
EASTON, Pa. – Senior linebacker Brandon Bryant is the Patriot League Football Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week. The Cherry Hill, N.J. native equaled his season-high in tackles with 15 stops in a 14-10 win over Fordham.
Thirteen of Bryant’s stops were solo tackles and he also added a sack. The senior captain helped the Leopards’ defense stop Fordham on 4-of-5 fourth down situations and 10-of-16 third down opportunities.
Bryant is averaging 14.3 tackles per game over the past four contests and 12.2 tackles per game (third in the nation) for the season. He also ranks sixth in the nation in solo tackles per game (7.3).
The Defensive Player of the Week honor is Bryant’s second this season and third of his career, as he also earned the award on Sept. 12, 2016 after making a career-high 18 tackles at Delaware. Bryant also was the Special Teams Player of the Week in his rookie season of 2014.
Lafayette plays its final non-conference game of the season on Saturday at Harvard in a noon kick-off in Cambridge, Mass.
