Bormann, Crosby and Logan Named Lafayette Football Captains

Aug. 9, 2013

EASTON, Pa. - Seniors Brad Bormann, Pat Crosby and Randall Logan have been named the captains of Lafayette's 2013 football team it was announced on Thursday evening at a team meeting.

Bormann (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) enters his third year as a starter at offensive guard and is one of five returning starters on the Leopard offensive line. The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District II honoree and 2013 AFCA Good Works Team nominee has started 17 games the last two seasons including all 11 contests in 2012.

Literally playing alongside Bormann is his classmate Crosby (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln Sudbury). Crosby started all 11 games at center in 2012 after starting two in 2011 while coming back after a summer shoulder surgery. He was named to the 2013 Preseason All-Patriot League Second Team by Phil Steele's College Football Preview.

Logan (Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood) represents the defensive side of the ball and will be the team's starting cornerback. He played in 11 games a season ago and made two starts while collecting the team's Most Improved Defensive Player Award. Logan, who was second on the team with eight pass breakups, was part of a Lafayette secondary that ranked second in the nation with 22 interceptions.

For 2013, the captains were selected by Frank Tavani, the Fred M. Kirby II '42 Head Football Coach, in consultation with his coaching staff. In addition to the team's three captains, Tavani has instituted a leadership council for which two members of each of the freshman, sophomore and junior classes will be elected by their classmates to represent their class in weekly meetings with the captains and Tavani.

"We have three student-athletes in Brad, Pat and Randall who have the maturity, talent and desire to lead this football team and be outstanding representatives of Lafayette College," Tavani said. "They are no-nonsense leaders who are respected by their peers."

Lafayette has its first full-team practice on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and opens the season Sept. 7, hosting Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. on Student Appreciation Night.
