McFadden Promoted to Special Teams Coordinator

July 26, 2013

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette football assistant coach Doug McFadden, who begins his fifth season coaching the Leopard secondary, will add special teams' responsibilities to his duties in his newly appointed role as Special Teams Coordinator.

"We're really looking to solidify our special teams' units," said Lafayette head coach Frank Tavani, who enters his 14th season. "Instead of a different coach handling each unit as we've done the past couple of years, there will be one person shouldering the responsibility."

"Recently, Doug has spent time with a couple of NFL teams and some FBS teams to prepare for this," Tavani continued. "I am going to continue to be very hands on, but we'll have coordinators to run each of the three phases of the game who report back to me."

McFadden is coming off a season in which three of the four members of the Lafayette secondary earned All-Patriot League laurels (Jared Roberts, Kyni Scott '13 and Darius Safford '13) while Lafayette ranked second in the nation in interceptions.
