EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette College senior outside linebacker John Fistner (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was named First-Team All-Patriot League in a vote of the league's head football coaches, as announced today by the conference office. Earning All-League honors on the second team were junior split end Phil Yarberough (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon), senior free safety Angel Colon (Garfield, NJ/St. Joseph's Regional), and junior cornerback Elijah Beamon (Middletown, NY/Middletown).

Fistner, who earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors twice during the 1999 season, led the Leopards 48 solo tackles, 18 tackles for loss, five quarterback sacks, and four forced fumbles. One of the team tri-captains, Fistner finished his career with 186 total tackles and 12 quarterback sacks.

Yarberough led Lafayette with 50 receptions for 651 yards and four touchdowns. His 50 receptions ties him for fourth all-time in Leopard history for a single season. He will begin his senior season in 10th place on Lafayette's all-time receptions list with 83 career catches.

Colon and Beamon spearheaded a dominant defensive backfield that led the Patriot League in pass efficiency defense (99.6 rating). Beamon led the Patriot League with six interceptions, and returns for his senior season with 10 career pick-offs. A three-time All-League honoree, Colon finished second on the team this season with five interceptions and fourth in total tackles with 72. A versatile performer, he led the team and ranked 26th in NCAA Division I-AA in punt returns, finishing with 30 returns for 336 yards.

Lafayette concluded its 118th season of college football with a 4-7 overall record, and 2-4 and fifth place in Patriot League play. Lafayette opens the 2000 season by hosting Towson on Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m.
