Leopards Add Three to 2009 Roster
March 11, 2009
EASTON, Pa. - Offensive lineman Zach Schleimer (Summit, N.J./Summit) has transferred to Lafayette from Iona while head coach Frank Tavani has added Scott Kajmo (Richboro, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Emery Young (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) who will join 17 others as members of the Class of 2013.
Schleimer, who comes to Lafayette with two years of eligibility remaining, started all 11 games at left tackle for the Iona College Gaels after playing in two games his 2007. Iona dropped its football program after the 2008 season. The Summit, N.J. native will likely move to guard on the Leopards' line and has already joined the team in off-season workouts. He will participate in the spring season.
Kajmo will be learning the blocking schemes alongside Schleimer. Kajmo was an All-Catholic League First-Team selection in 2008, helping to lead his squad to the AAA state finals. Kajmo also collected All-City honors on defense.
Young played tailback during his high school career, but will come to Lafayette in a slot back role in the Leopards' evolving offense. Young was an all-conference selection who rushed for 16 touchdowns and 999 yards in nine games while averaging 5.4 yards per carry.
Previously on National Signing Day (Feb. 4), Lafayette welcomed 17 signees. The Leopards will hold their annual Maroon and White Spring Game on April 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Stadium.
