EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette College will serve as host for "Lauren's First and Goal Football Camp," a one-day event to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United States (PBTFUS).

Leopard defensive coordinator John Loose is organizing the event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 5 at Lafayette's Metzgar Athletic Campus on Sullivan Trail.

"The camp is a win-win situation for everyone involved," Loose said. "The kids that attend the camp have the opportunity to be coached by college coaches for a small fee and create exposure for themselves. The coaches working the camp have the opportunity to see kids they may not normally get to see, and all the proceeds from the camp are being donated to charity."

The clinic, for players who will be entering grades 7-12 in the fall, will be staffed by college coaches from all three NCAA divisions. Players will be divided into small groups for non-contact offensive and defensive skill instruction and will have the opportunity to make contact with area colleges through the volunteer coaches. The camper-to-coach ratio will be approximately 10-to-1.

A minimum donation of 25 dollars must accompany each athlete's registration, which must be received by May 15. Registration forms are available on Lafayette's athletics website, www.goleopards.com. All proceeds will benefit the PBTFUS, a non-profit organization that provides the majority of funding for research into the treatment of and search for a cure for pediatric brain tumors. The foundation also serves the families of patients by providing support programs. The camp is named in honor of Loose's seven-year-old daughter, Lauren Loose, who was diagnosed with multiple brain tumors at age 2. Over the past five years, the Loose family has experienced first-hand the invaluable support of the PBTFUS.
