Lauren's First and Goal Returns to Lafayette
Feb. 6, 2014
Easton, Pa. – Lafayette College will host Lauren’s First and Goal Football Camp at the Metzgar Athletic Complex on Sunday June 1, 2014.
The one-day camp is open to high school student-athletes entering ninth through 12th grade. College coaches from across the country instruct small groups of student-athletes in a wide range of offensive and defensive skills. Since its inception in 2004, the camp has seen tremendous growth with 2,559 campers and 427 coaches took part in last year’s camps, a far cry from the inaugural 320 campers and 58 coaches. Campers donated $112, 591 last year.
Former Lafayette defensive coordinator John Loose and his wife Marianne started Lauren’s First and Goal in 2004 in honor of their 16-year-old daughter Lauren who survived a battle with a pediatric brain tumor. The organization’s website recognizes a total of $1.5 million raised to aid in its “mission to provide financial support for brain tumor research and cancer services, to offer financial and emotional support to families living with pediatric cancer, and to increase the awareness of the disease.”
