Mike Saint Germain, a member of three Lafayette Patriot League championship teams, is in his first season as a member of the Lafayette coaching staff, joining as a defensive assistant coach.
Saint Germain spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Virginia. In 2013, Saint Germain coached the fullbacks and assisted with special teams and the offensive line for the Cavaliers. He began his time in Charlottesville, Va. as the assistant offensive line and tight ends coach, working with All-Atlantic Coast Conference selections Oday Aboushi, Morgan Moses on the offensive line and tight end Jake McGee.
Saint Germain was responsible for monitoring recruits in seven states and Canada, and helped coordinate recruiting efforts in Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, New England and central Texas.
Prior to Virginia, Saint Germain spent three seasons at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. under former Leopard assistant coach John Troxell. Saint Germain coached the defense line, helping push the program to consecutive winning seasons and ECAC Bowl Game appearances. He coached five All-Centennial Conference selections, including CT Marsh who broke the school's career sack record.
At F&M, Saint Germain held the position of video coordinator in 2010 and 2011 and shared special teams duties. His recruiting areas covered parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington D.C.
The Morris Plains, N.J. native got his coaching start at Morristown High School in 2007, coaching for two seasons. In 2008, Saint Germain played one season of professional football with the Austin Wranglers of the Arena 2 Football League.
His pro stint followed a stellar career at Lafayette during which he helped the Leopards capture Patriot League titles in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Saint Germain was an All-Patriot League First-Team selection his final two seasons while garnering AFCA and CollegeSportingNews.com All-America honors as a senior. He was an Associated Press All-America Third-Team selection in 2006.
Saint Germain graduated with a History degree in May of 2007 and currently is working toward his master's degree at Virginia.
