Contact Coach Keating:
In his third season as a member of the Lafayette College football program, Kevin Keating boasts 20 years of high school coaching experience, including 14 as a head coach, to the Leopards. He mentors the Lafayette’s wide receivers. Keating, who served as Pottsville Area High School’s head football coach from 1986-99 and as an assistant coach from 1980-85, led his squads to two Eastern Football Conference AAAA Championships and a 94-62-7 overall record before retiring as head coach after the 1999 season.
He coached seven teams into playoff appearances, and led his 1994 squad to a victory over Oviedo High School in Orlando, Fla. at the Rotary Bowl, becoming the first out-of-state team to defeat a Florida high school in the then 22-year history of the game.
Seventeen of his players earned scholarships to Division I-A or I-AA college programs, while four earned Big 33 honors and two received Associated Press Big School All-State accolades. Keating earned his bachelor of science degree in secondary education from Gettysburg College in 1978, playing two seasons of football for the Bullets before a torn ACL ended his playing career.
A full-time English teacher at Pottsville High School, Keating and his wife, Teresa, are the proud parents of three children—Kevin, Alicia, and Patrick.
