Lindner Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

EASTON, Pa. – Men’s basketball freshman point guard Nick Lindner has been selected as the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week after helping the Leopards split a pair of close contests. Lafayette earned its first victory of the season with a 79-76 triumph over Penn on Saturday.

Lindner began the week by scoring a career-high 18 points in Lafayette’s narrow loss to Yale (79-76). The rookie PG hit on 5-of-8 from the floor and was perfect at the line (7-for-7), in addition to handing out five assists and pulling in a season-high five rebounds. The Doylestown, Pa. native followed up that effort with another double-digit scoring performance as he netted 12 in Lafayette’s three-point win over in-state rival Penn. Lindner went 8-of-10 at the charity stripe and had four assists with only one turnover in the victory.

Over the two games Lindner averaged 15 points, three rebounds and 4.5 assists en route to earning his first Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor. Junior Seth Hinrichs also posted an impressive stat line over the past two games and was a recognized as an honorable mention pick in the Player of the Week voting. Hinrichs averaged 28 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 57.1 percent (20-of-35) from the field and 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from beyond the arc in the two games.

Lafayette returns to the hardwood tomorrow night when the team travels to Staten Island, N.Y. to play Wagner. Opening tip is 7 p.m. and the game will air live online on NEC Front Row.
