Klinewski and Stafford Sign National Letters of Intent

Lafayette men’s basketball head coach Fran O’Hanlon has announced the addition of two student-athletes as part of the Class of 2018. Forward Matt Klinewski and guard Eric Stafford have signed National Letters of Intent to attend the College in the fall of 2014, it was announced Monday.

Klinewski, a 6-8, 230 pound forward, comes to College Hill from Eastern High School in Voorhees, N.J. where he is beginning his fourth season as a varsity starter.  As a junior, Klinewski averaged 18.6 points per game en route to earning Second-Team All-South Jersey honors by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Courier Post and the Albert J. Carino Boys Basketball Club of South Jersey. He was also recognized as a 2012-13 First Team South Jersey All-Group IV and a Third Team New Jersey All-Group IV selection. A Third-Team New Jersey All-Junior choice by the Newark Star Ledger, Klinewski was also a 2012-13 First-Team All-Olympic Conference and a First-Team All-Camden County honoree by NJ Hoops.

In addition, Klinewski earned MVP honors at the 2013 Olympic-Cape Challenge and was named Top Junior by NJ Hoops at Eustace Showcase after scoring 16 points. A standout performer at the Hoop Group’s 2012 Fall Top 100 Tour in Philadelphia, he was also selected as the MVP at the Youth Interlock Society Midnight Madness All-Star Game. He was named as one of the Top Rising Juniors at Summer Shootout by NJ Hoops and picked to play for the Five-Star Orange & White Classic All-Star Team at the New York National Super Session in August 2012.

Stafford is a 6-5, 160-pound guard out of Pitman High School in Pitman, N.J. A three-sport athlete for the Panthers, Stafford is a member of the golf team and played one season of baseball. On the court, Stafford averaged 15.8 points per game during his junior season and owns a three-year scoring average of 10.3 points per game. He was a First-Team All-Tri-County Conference selection in 2012-13 and was named Most Valuable Player of the Bishop Eustace Tri-State Showcase in 2013. A 2012 Pitman Classic All-Tournament Team choice and 2012 and 2013 Most Improved Player award winner, Stafford is also a member of the National Honor Society.
