One America Game a Success for Men's Hoops
EASTON, Pa. – The exhibition men’s basketball game between Lafayette and Penn State, held on Saturday afternoon at Kirby Sports Center, raised more than $7,000 for hurricane relief with funds supporting the One America Appeal.
One America was launched by all five living former American Presidents to encourage fellow citizens to support recovery efforts from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
Both Lafayette and Penn State had specific connections to the affected areas. Lafayette sophomore Hunter Janacek is a Houston, Texas native, while freshman E.J. Stephens is from Plantation, Fla. Penn State sophomore Grant Hazle is from Kingwood, Texas, and freshman Jamari Wheeler traveled to State College from Live Oak, Fla.
More than 700 fans attended the game, a 102-80 victory for the visitors. The Leopards open up their regular season on Friday, traveling to Fairfax, Va. for a meeting with George Mason at 7 p.m.
