BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Under the direction of 18th year head coach Fran O’Hanlon, the Lafayette men's basketball team has been chosen to finish fourth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll of coaches and sports information directors announced Wednesday at Patriot League Men's Basketball Media Day held at Arts Quest Center at Steel Stacks.

Lafayette was selected behind 2012 Patriot League champion Lehigh, which returns preseason Patriot League Player of the Year, C.J. McCollum and First Team selection Gabe Knutson. The Mountain Hawks received 12 of the 16 first place votes, garnering 96 points in the poll, while Bucknell (88 points, four first-place votes) and American (66) followed. Holy Cross and Lafayette were picked to tie for fourth place in the League with 55 points each. Army (47), Colgate (26) and Navy (15) completed the poll.

The Leopards are coming off a 13-18 season in which the team defeated Holy Cross on the road in the Patriot League quarterfinal for the second straight season. 2012 Second Team All-Patriot League selection Tony Johnson returns for his senior season in addition to returning starters Seth Hinrichs and Dan Trist. Hinrichs and Trist were each named to the All-Rookie Team after last season.

Along with Lehigh’s McCollum and Knutson, Bucknell' senior forward Mike Muscala, junior guard Cameron Ayers and Army senior forward Ella Ellis were recognized on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team.

The Leopards open the season at home on Nov. 9 against St. Francis (Pa.). Tipoff from Kirby Sports Center is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and the game can be seen online via GoLeopards.com/allaccess

The game is the third contest of a scheduled tripleheader featuring the Lafayette volleyball team vs. Army at 4 p.m. and the women’s basketball team against Loyola-Chicago at 6:30 p.m.
