EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette men's basketball team opened its preseason on Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. practice inside the newly renovated Kirby Sports Center. The official start of the preseason for the team came on Friday afternoon in a team meeting.

Under the direction of 19th year head coach Fran O'Hanlon, Lafayette looks to take the next step in 2013-14 after advancing to the Patriot League championship game last year. O'Hanlon's coaching staff remains in tact this season as he will be assisted once again by Pat Doherty (5th season), Donovan Williams (4th season) and John O'Connor (5th season).

On the court the Leopards return 11 letterwinners and three starters from last year's 19-15 squad, which will be led by captains Jack Detmer and Seth Hinrichs. Detmer, a Government & Law major, has played in 48 career games for the Maroon and White and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2012-13. Hinrichs was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection as a sophomore after averaging 15.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Hinrichs is a career 46-percent three-point shooter.

Lafayette opens its regular season on Nov. 8 when it takes on Villanova at The Pavilion. Opening tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. and the game will air nationally on Fox Sports 2.
