Raphael Chillious '96 Joins Coaching Staff at Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Wright announced the addition of Raphael Chillious '96 as an assistant coach. Chillious played for Fran O'Hanlon during his time at Lafayette, and was known as Ralph Carter.

A guard and team captain during the 1995-96 season, Chillious played for O'Hanlon in first season on College Hill. Chillious, a native of Olney, Md., earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology at Lafayette. He began his coaching career in 1997-98 at the University of Victoria in British Columbia and served as the head coach at West Nottingham Academy in Colora, Md. from 2001-03. In 2003, he was named head coach at South Kent (Conn.) School, where he coached Paul Cummins '08.

In 2008, he was named business manager for Nike's Elite Youth Basketball in Beaverton, Ore. The following year, Chillious was named an assistant coach at the University of Washington. He helped guide the Huskies to a 26-10 record in 2009-10, which included an appearance in the NCAA's Sweet 16. In his second season on staff, Washington finished with a 24-11 mark. His duties included national and international recruiting, on-court teaching, and player development.
