Dyson Added to Men’s Hoops Staff
EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette men’s basketball head coach Fran O’Hanlon completed his coaching staff on Wednesday afternoon, adding Jarren Dyson to the sidelines for the 2017-18 campaign.
“Jarren has a history of success, contributing to an excellent program at Christopher Newport over the past few years,” O’Hanlon said. “His ability to develop talent, as well as his recruiting contacts, should prove to be a valuable asset to Lafayette. We are excited to welcome him to the Leopard family.”
Dyson spent the past four seasons as an assistant at Christopher Newport, a D-III institution in Newport News, Va., under former Lafayette assistant coach John Krikorian. During his time there, he helped lead the team to back-to-back conference championships and a run to the program’s first-ever Final Four appearance in 2016.
The Captains held a 99-19 record and three conference championships over his tenure. Dyson was responsible for the development of seven All-Conference performers, two Conference Players of the Year and two First-Team All-Americans.
Prior to his time in Virginia, he was an assistant at Tabb High School for two years, leading the Tigers to the state quarterfinals both years.
As a player at Emory & Henry in Emory, Va., Dyson started all four years, serving as a team captain for his final two seasons. He sits fourth all-time in assists at his alma mater and was selected as the team’s Most Valuable Player following the 2009-10 season.
Dyson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 2010, majoring in Sport Management with a minor in Business Management. He takes the open spot on staff vacated by former Associate Head Coach Pat Doherty, who was named the head coach at Haverford College on May 11.
