The Leopards improved to 11-12 overall and 4-2 in Patriot League play with a 69-40 victory over Colgate. Seth Hinrichs (24 points) led Lafayette offensively on 8-of-10 shooting, including five threes.
American won both meetings in 2011-12, including a 76-69 decision in Washington, D.C.
Lafayette has won three consecutive games and has outscored its opponents by an average of 20 points per game. Defensively, the Leopards have held their opponents to 33.1 percent shooing in the last three games.
Hinrichs (14.6 ppg) leads the team in scoring and has six 20-point games this season. Hinrichs has scored in double figures in 12 of Lafayette’s last 13 games and 19 times overall.
With the win over Colgate, Lafayette moved to 10-2 on the season when leading at halftime.
Tony Johnson is currently tied with Matt Roberts ’08 for eighth in the Lafayette record books with 143 career steals. He needs five steals to tie Bruce Stankavage ’91.
Lafayette has won three straight Patriot League games for the first time since opening the 2009-10 conference schedule with four consecutive victories.
Levi Giese (95 career blocked shots) needs five blocks to become the fourth player in program history to reach the century mark.
Under Fran O’Hanlon, the Leopards are 116-116 in conference regular-season play and 6-21 against American.
