Opening Tip

Lafayette plays the second of four out of five road contests on Saturday against Patriot League-leader American. The Leopards are in search of their first Patriot League victory and look to snap a seven-game losing streak.

Lafayette dipped to 0-6 in Patriot League play following an 77-63 loss to Loyola on Monday. It is the first time under head coach Fran O'Hanlon that Lafayette has started its conference schedule 0-6.

In Patriot League play, sophomore Zach Rufer and freshman Michael Hoffman have combined to shoot 12-of-20 from beyond the arc. Rufer's 8-for-15 effort has him at 53.3 percent in conference play, while Hoffman has knocked down 4-of-5 from downtown (80 percent).

Lafayette is 2-7 on the road this season, while American holds a 3-1 mark in games played at Bender Arena. Entering Saturday's matchup AU has won six consecutive games.

Lafayette's 74.3 points per game scoring average leads the Patriot League. American is ninth in the conference at 63.9 points per game.

Sophomore Ben Freeland has seen his minutes increase over Lafayette's last seven games. The 6-9 forward has averaged 14.4 minutes off the bench, while scoring 3.3 points and pulling down 3.3 rebounds per outing.

Junior Joey Ptasinski has scored in double figures in four straight games and reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week Nick Lindner has scored at least 10 points in the Leopards last three contests. Lindner's Rookie of the Week honor was his third of the season.

In two career games against American, sophomore Bryce Scott has averaged 15.5 points per game on 10-of-18 shooting, including a 7-for-9 effort from three-point land. Last year at Bender Arena, Scott scored 17 second-half points and hit fives threes in the four-point setback.
