John Gallagher

John Gallagher comes into his second season as the top assistant on Fran O'Hanlon's men's basketball coaching staff. He serves as the program's top recruiter, and is in charge of development of the team's guards.

In the summer of 2005, Gallagher coached a team of current college players, including Lafayette sophomores Ted Detmer and Everest Schmidt, while they toured Belgium, France and Holland, representing Global Sports.

Gallagher arrived at Lafayette by way of La Salle University where he coached five seasons, two of which under Big 5 legend Speedy Morris and the last three under Billy Hahn. Gallagher jumped right into coaching upon graduating from Saint Joseph's University in 1999.

His coaching tenure followed a successful playing career at Saint Joseph's, where he was a guard for three seasons and was a member of the 1996 Hawk squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

He is one sibling in a basketball-rich family, as his sisters Ann and Joan both played college basketball at La Salle and Boston College, respectively.

Gallagher lives on College Hill.
